The Producer for iam8bit Presents is accountable for handling day-to-day operations of the iam8bit Presents Digital Publishing Label and generates revenue by building a portfolio of successful games. The Producer has authority over external production schedules, internal requirements, and project budgets.
They are the key point of contact with external service providers (e.g. localization, porting, etc) and partner developers. The Producer’s Objectives & Key Results include meeting milestone deadlines, assessing new product pitches for fit, and ensuring that all projects stay on budget & on schedule. This position reports to iam8bit’s co-owners.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Shepherd multiple games from external development teams through the production process, from concept to post-release.
- Define game development budgets and schedules for external studios.
- Collaborate with external developers to manage milestone schedules and requirements.
- Conduct release management to configure and deploy base games, DLCs, and patches across PC & console platforms.
- Liaison between development team, brand manager and business stake holders to ensure that all teams are on the same page and communicating effectively.
- Collaborate with Brand Management to create digital store pages, wishlist campaigns, and offers across PC & console platforms.
- Manage external production services like quality assurance (LQA, CQA, and FQA), localization, and porting from external vendors
- Compare different production services vendors to determine the best fit for each project’s budget, schedule, and goals.
- Facilitate in-person playtests, online betas, and customer surveys to write data-backed reports on development builds.
- Manage the localization of in-game content by preparing style guides, project schedules, and commentary for external language partners.
- Conduct market research to identify pertinent trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Oversee the milestone review process by holding partners accountable to fulfill requirements and gathering required signatures.
- Chair and facilitate internal and external meetings between iam8bit departments, external vendors, and development partners.
- Engage in business development by scouting for new projects, assessing pitches, and building relationships with academic, incubator and international showcases.
- Create and facilitate departmental Standard Operating Practices.
- Generate, manage, and distribute product keys to digital retail partners and media.
- Collaborate with Data Analyst & External Consultants to prepare budgetary estimates and P&L statements for potential projects
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- At least 3 years of Developer-side production experience OR at least one year of Publisher-side production experience on small-to-mid-budget console & PC games.
- Exceptional written & spoken communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of independence.
- Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills.
- Experience with shipping games for multiple platforms simultaneously.
- Experience with first party submissions and release management (code & metadata) for Sony, Nintendo, and Xbox, as well as PC storefronts like Steam and Epic Game Store and other third parties.
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Wrike, Notion, or similar project management tool.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or similar spreadsheet tool.
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative games user research methodologies (e.g. proctored playtests, online surveys, focus groups, clinical interviews).
- Experience working with third party production services vendors like translators..
- Respect for cultural differences and ability to communicate successfully with international development partners.
Nice to Have
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Interactive Media, Game Design, Media Production, Computer Science, or similar discipline.
- Experience with mobile game development & production
- Knowledge of project management methodologies like Agile
- Working proficiency in Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, or Latin American Spanish.
- Experience managing & developing employees.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. This may require sitting or standing at a computer for extended periods, speaking on the phone, and other physical activities associated with a Producer role.
This is a full time, exempt position with a projected salary range of $75,000 - $95,000 per year including base and bonus compensation. The actual pay may vary based on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Hours are 9a - 5:30p Monday - Friday, with occasional work outside of business hours including weekends. The position is hybrid at our offices in Highland Park.
