Ace High Sports are a new game studio based in Bournemouth on the UK’s South Coast. We’ve got a small, talented team and some great investors. Right now, we’re building a game that combines American Football and Texas Hold’em Poker, and are just completing Pre-Production. We’re ready to expand our squad with additional developers.

This is an exciting time for our company, and you could be one of our earliest hires. The feedback we’ve been getting is fantastic, and we can’t wait to bring more people on board.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Unity front-end (UI/UX) and gameplay developer to join our team in-house. You’ll help craft intuitive, visually appealing, and highly responsive user interfaces and gameplay for our exciting new project.

You’ll work closely with our lead designer, artist, and developer to implement UI elements and front-end gameplay that enhance user experience and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement UI screens and systems within Unity using appropriate tech and in-house systems.
  • Collaborate with designers and artists to translate wireframes and mockups into functional UI screens and components.
  • Extend and use existing project frameworks to add new features and expand gameplay systems.
  • Ensure UI performance across different platforms and screen resolutions.
  • Ensure UI consistency, accessibility, and responsiveness across devices.
  • Implement animations, transitions, and interactive elements to enhance the user experience.
  • Work with fellow developers to integrate UI with game logic and backend systems.
  • Debug and resolve UI-related issues to maintain a smooth player experience.

Requirements

  • 4–5+ years of game industry experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Unity and C#.
  • Experience working on mobile-focused games.
  • Experience with Unity UI systems and common plugins (TMPro, DoTween).
  • Standard programming skills: source control, debugging, testing, and optimisation.

Desired Skills / Experience

  • History of shipped titles.
  • Knowledge of poker hands and rules.
  • Love of sport.
  • PC and console experience.
  • Knowledge of standard UI optimisations and tricks.
  • Understanding of code design patterns (MVVM, MVC).
  • Experience implementing performant UI animations and FX.
  • Familiarity with Unity Addressables.
  • Understanding of the Unity atlas system.
