The Senior Writer crafts compelling, interactive narrative stories that match the tone and voice established by the Creative Director. The Senior Writer contributes to setting the tone for projects as assigned, and works with other writers to match the established tone. The Senior Writer leads writers rooms, guiding conversation and breaking story with a writing team. They assign episodes, scenes, and/or smaller writing assignments to writers. They are also responsible for reviewing and providing feedback on all submitted material. The Senior Writer manages delivery timelines in conjunction with Production ensuring they meet all established deadlines. The Senior Writer is responsible for supporting and reviewing key story materials such as season boards, story bibles, character breakdowns and marketing materials.

 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Creative Director to establish tone of project
  • Leads writer’s room process and breaks story with writing team
  • Manages writing team on project
  • Reviews all submitted materials and provides feedback
  • Works closely with Production team to manage delivery timelines
  • Writes dialogue and scenes as needed
  • Keeps the writing team on tone
  • Delivers key deliverables on deadline including: season outline, episode outline, episode drafts and final drafts.
  • Offers support to Writers when they need guidance.
  • Provides coverage in VO sessions with actors, providing story context and editing dialogue in the booth as needed.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to identify and deliver writing needs.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 shipped title as Senior Writer (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in video game industry
  • Strong ear for dialogue
  • Stays current on games, film and tv. Watches/plays reference material.
  • Ability to give and take criticism in a professional manner.
  • Positive and self-driven attitude with the ability to participate in a collaborative environment.
  • Seniors discussion in writers rooms and stays actively engaged in conversation.
  • Meets writing deadlines and writes within scope.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Preferable Experience:

  • Knowledge of interactive narrative games
  • Experience working remotely

Writing Sample:

  • Please include a 10 page (or less) script with an emphasis on strong dialogue and drama in screenplay format. We will not review writing samples in any other format. This role requires you to write compelling dialog on a deadline and more often than not, in traditional screenplay format.
