Overview
Arc Forge is developing a 4-player coop PVE FPS horror/action game for PC in Unreal Engine 5.6 in the likes of Left 4 Dead and Vermintide series set in Canada.
Role Description
- Contract position for an animator
- Will be required to make first-person and third-person (full body) perspective animations for playable characters, as well as full body animations for the monsters. Must be comfortable with a different rig for both setups and adjusting or creating animations that work with the perspective they are in.
- Strong emphasis on tactical, realistic, grounded first-person animations with a strong sense of how these animations communicate information to the player. Required areas will be firearms, melee weapons, and general player interactions.
Qualifications
- Must have a portfolio that showcases animation work in game development. Please ensure this is included in your response. Candidates with FP animations will be prioritized.
- Experience with rigging would be beneficial, given how tightly coupled these requirements will be to the rig for the model. If not, must be able to provide a breakdown of what rig setup they will need for the animation work.
- Work or knowledge in relevant genres (FPS, horror, action, multiplayer) is highly valued.
- Must be able to parse game design requirements into the requisite animations.
- Strong communication skills with an eye on iteration and exploration.
- Knowledge of Unreal Engine is beneficial, but not required.
- Experience in industry standard software.
Arc Forge is an indie game dev studio based in Ontario, Canada. We’re making games that explore three fundamental pillars:
- Visceral and satisfying gameplay with depth that challenges players,
- Engaging and nuanced cooperative play that puts players in diverse roles, fostering teamwork and tactical decision making,
- Weaving stylized, surreal, often horrifying narratives subtly through all the components of the games.
We aim to unite gameplay and narrative into a seamless, group-friendly experience that draws players into our worlds.
We’re looking to work with talented developers, artists, and publishers in Canada or worldwide, especially those interested in eerie storytelling, immersive horror, and rich gameplay.
