Established game development studio Bippinbits seeks a Mission Designer with experience in curating a smooth and informative first time user experience, on a full-time contract basis (6 months, starting ASAP) to join the team in realizing their vision of an explosive retro-future filled with political intrigue. This position is remote, but the successful candidate must be able to collaborate with a core team based in CEST. We would consider splitting this role into two half-time roles (mission design and player experience design) for exceptional candidates.

Role Responsibilities

  • Design exciting and dynamic in-game missions based on the existing structure and worldbuilding
  • Implement those missions in-engine (Godot) then test and iterate where appropriate
  • Work with the game community and playtest reports to collate and address feedback on existing gameplay mechanics
  • Lead on tutorialisation by identifying points of friction and/or confusion for players and suggesting efficient and thematically appropriate ways to address them through audio/visual means, or through dialogue with a specific in-game character
  • Write, implement, test, and iterate on these elements (all in-game text will receive a pass from our writer, so you don’t need to be a great writer: just a clear communicator)

What We’re Looking For

  • An experienced and confident game designer with experience working on games from concept through to delivery, and a related portfolio of mission, narrative, UX, or FTUE design
  • A creative, attentive, and efficient individual, with strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
  • A collaborator, happy to take direction and feedback from colleagues while equally providing feedback and perspectives
  • An interest in military or political settings, or the desire and ability to research related themes and settings
  • The ability to speak German is a plus, but not a requirement
