Cat Samurai is seeking a talented 2D Artist to collaborate on our game, Heart/Thief.
About Heart/Thief
Heart/Thief is a 3D first-person game that blends casual stealth and light puzzle mechanics, reminiscent of Untitled Goose Game, with the intrigue, characters, and storytelling of neo-noir classics like The Usual Suspects, L.A. Confidential, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Set in an alternate 1920s world where emotions can be stolen, sold, and weaponized, the game’s monochrome aesthetic (black and white with pops of color) is inspired by early noir films and the art styles of Frank Miller and Mike Mignola.
This milestone-based, part-time contract role starts in February 2025 and runs for 1 to 3 months. We are actively pursuing funding to transition this position into a full-time contract.

Cat Samurai is an independent studio based in Toronto, Canada. We specialize in snackable games that blend playful, systems-driven mechanics with strong worldbuilding and narrative. Our Creative Director’s first title, Lil’ Guardsman, helped define the studio’s voice and set the foundation for the kinds of character-driven experiences we’re passionate about making.
We also believe in sharing success. Our revenue-sharing program, Team Win, allocates a portion of project revenue directly to the development team—aligning rewards with contribution and supporting a more sustainable path for indie creators.
🌊 Nate from Work With Indies here. Just a quick note to say that Artiom and I connected here through his prior work on Lil' Guardsman and quickly became good friends. FWIW, I keep on trying to find ways to work with Artiom and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend others do the same. Also, it doesn't hurt that he has the best hair in indie games.
