Cyquential Studios is currently looking for a lead 3D Artist/Art Director to create and guide the art direction for an upcoming survival pursuit extraction game. As a small studio of 5, you will be responsible for leading the entire art team, as well as completing a series of retexturing jobs that are needed before the game is shipped. This is a nine month full time remote contract position primarily focused on design + retexturing and will roughly consist of the following:
- Lead and guide the overall games art direction (including assistance in the development of an art bible, color pallet, and theming)
- Re-rigging, adjusting, and fitting of metahuman characters to UE4 skeleton
- Creation and implementation (texturing, weight painting) of custom police and prisoner uniforms and outfits along with police vehicle (car, helicopter, and boat) textures consistent with your developed art bible.
- Work with Motion Capture footage to create in game cutscenes using Unreal's level sequencer
- Assist, guide and manage Junior 3D Modelers, Level Designers and animators with prop and building creation.
- Work with publishers to assist in trailers and media creation.
Essentials:
- Experience with any of the tasks mentioned above
- Proficiency (at least 3-5) years in any industry relevant modeling and rigging software (Blender, Maya)
- Experience with Character Creation and texturing programs (specifically Metahuman, but also Character Creator, Substance Painter)
- Know best practices (e.g., polycount, topology, UV mapping).
- Experience with Unreal Engine, including importing assets, materials & material functions
- Strong artistic and visual skills
- Ability to work independently and remotely
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to lead
Good to have:
- Experience shipping a previous game title (not required, as we know there are many people out there who are very talented but just haven't found the right position yet!)
- Experience with character designing and tools (ZBrush)
- Knowledge of Lighting techniques
- Any concept artist skills (this would be really beneficial in the development of the art bible)
- Located in Ohio (not required, we are primarily a remote team!)
