Higgs Studio is an indie team developing a dark, story-driven adventure-horror puzzle in Unreal Engine 5. We’re looking for a Technical Animator who can bridge the gap between cinematics and gameplay — someone who thrives on solving animation pipeline challenges while bringing eerie, grounded performances to life in-engine.
You’ll be responsible for creating and implementing in-game cinematics, character and creature animations, and animation systems in UE5 — building the bridge between art and engineering. The focus is primarily on technical animation, with secondary involvement in gameplay integration and polish.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement in-game cinematics using Sequencer
- Build and maintain animation systems in AnimBP, State Machines, and Blend Spaces
- Work with rigs, retargeters, and control rigs to ensure clean motion across character types
- Debug and optimize animation logic within UE5’s animation graph
- Collaborate closely with design and programming to ensure responsive gameplay animation
Required skills & experience
- Strong grasp of body mechanics and realistic movement
- Proven UE5 experience — Control Rig, IK setups, Retargeter, Sequencer
- Technical animation proficiency: rig debugging, data cleanup, animation state logic, and tool-friendly workflow design
- Maya or Blender proficiency for authoring and refining animations
- Experience creating in-game cinematic animation sequences
Preferred skills
- Light rigging or animation tool development
- Mocap cleanup / retargeting
- Familiarity with MetaHuman characters
