Little Bat Games, an independent game studio, is currently on the hunt for a skilled freelance 2D Character Artist to contribute to our upcoming title, Vampire Therapist. We’re in search of a unique talent: someone who can capture intense emotion with a high degree of expressiveness in a more grounded style. The role demands a knack for designing characters sporting period clothing (Tudor and Victorian England, Ancient Greece and Persia, Renaissance Italy, Ancient Celtic, 19th Century America) and a genuine understanding of body language and facial expressions to convey a broad spectrum of emotions.

This role requires you to reside in Berlin/Brandenburg, Germany.

Responsibilities:

• Create original and expressive character designs that harmonize with the unique aesthetic of Vampire Therapist.
• Collaborate closely with the Art Director to align character designs with the overall artistic vision of the game.
• Work effectively with the narrative and game design teams to ensure that characters reflect the game’s thematic elements and storyline.
• Adapt characters to a variety of moods and emotions, and design expressive facial and body animations.
• Use digital tools to design and finalize character models, ensuring they meet requirements for the game engine.
• Incorporate period clothing into character designs, drawing on historical accuracy while maintaining the game’s distinctive art style.
• Respond to feedback from the team, making artistic adjustments as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a 2D Character Artist/Character Concept Artist or similar role, with a portfolio showcasing your talent.
• Proficiency in digital art software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of character design principles, including anatomy, expressiveness, and clothing design.
• Familiarity with creating characters for a 2D game engine environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• A keen eye for detail and a strong sense of aesthetics.
• Previous experience with period clothing design is a strong plus.
