We are publishing games that weird out your folks.
We started off developing a game called ‘Atomic Owl’, released it, and realized we want to help other game developers using our unique publishing strategies. Then, we published ‘The Dark Queen of Mortholme’ and have been on a bit of a hot streak.
We believe every game deserves its moment to shine. Launches aren’t make it or break it moments, but they are important. With the right care, timing, and voice, even overlooked gems can find their audience. That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a Social Media & Marketing Associate who can help us champion outsider art, amplify the indie games under our ghoulish banner, and build genuine connections between players and developers. It’s early days for us as a publisher, but we’re building something scrappy, hungry, and monstrous! And of course, we’d love for you to be part of the ride.
We are game developers first.
What You’ll Do
- You will work closely with leadership on marketing strategy across not only Monster Theater, but you will work alongside games that we are publishing.
- Bring the Monster Theater voice to life across Twitter/X, TikTok, Instagram, Discord, BlueSky, and Steam Updates. Also, we want to make a Myspace page, which would be hilarious, so you’ll want to give us a hand with that!
- Help plan, schedule, and post content that celebrates our games, developers, and community.
- Engage with fans and content creators in an authentic way. There’s some light community management here.
- Find ways to grow the Monster Theater brand across socials.
- Track performance and report back. What’s resonating, what’s not, and how we can improve.
What We’re Looking For
- You don’t need a Bachelor’s Degree or a Master’s to work with us.
- Quite honestly, we are looking for someone who can be with the brand long-term, someone who loves indie games at their core.
- …and someone who knows a thing or two about video games of the early 2000s and now. Someone who has played Shadow of the Colossus on PS2, but also loves indie games like PEAK and A Short Hike.
- Someone who lives and breathes indie games, you know the scene, the culture, the quirks. Can name-drop a publisher or two besides Monster Theater.
- A creative who knows how to put together a short-form video, tweet with humor, and can track down trends on X.
- Comfort with social media tools (scheduling, analytics, TikTok editing, Discord modding, and whatever’s in your toolkit).
- Some experience in marketing, community management, or social media.
- Someone who’s a big fan of spooky Halloween-y games. If you’ve played Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Luigi’s Mansion, or even Visage, inquire within!
Why Join Monster Theater?
- We’re developers ourselves. We treat every game we touch with respect, care, and effort, as if it were our own.
- We’re growing rapidly, and are publishing multiple games, and building a fun, weird, esoteric culture that is going places. Spooky places.
- We work with indie devs who have raw, untapped potential, and we want you to help us make their art impossible to ignore.
- Our ethos is simple: ensuring outsider art gets its audience. It’s about video games.
Additional Details:
- Location: Remote
- Type: Part-time, 10 to 12 hours a week / Contract (with potential to grow)
- Pay: $18.00/hr
How to Apply
Firstly, we’re not going to ask for free work. We just want to see where you’ve worked, what you’ve done, and then have a chat.
Send us:
- First, check out our website and see if we’re a fit.
- Second, if we pass the test, email us!
- In the email, attach your resume, portfolio (if applicable), and social posts you’ve directly had a hand in. We want to see what you can do!
- We have a coffee, you join us, we work together happily for decades, and then you all eventually have a HUGE falling out, Succession-style, after our founder passes away during an extended trip abroad.
You are the eldest boy.
Ta ta, for now!
