Shape arenas that champion the fight!

Project Overview

We’re creating a stylized, team-based multiplayer brawler where melee combat meets ranged magic — built around flow, clarity, and expressive player mastery. Our arenas are dynamic, anime-inspired battlegrounds designed for rhythm, visibility, and over-the-top spectacle.

We’re looking for a Generalist Game Designer who can turn existing art and asset kits into playable, competitive spaces — crafting arenas and interactables that reward smart movement, teamwork, and cinematic gameplay moments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and iterate on arenas, layouts, and encounter spaces that enhance flow, readability, and combat rhythm.
  • Build interactive world elements — objects that respond to player input, react to damage, or have multi-stage destruction.
  • Prototype and implement gameplay elements, traversal paths, and arena features using Unreal Engine 5.4+ (Blueprints, World Partition, Sequencer).
  • Collaborate with art, animation, and engineering to ensure gameplay and visuals work in harmony.
  • Refine sightlines, cover, and verticality to suit fast-paced, competitive multiplayer play.
  • Help define design principles and documentation that scale across future arenas.
  • Contribute ideas for combat flow, player readability, and arena identity.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in game or level design (stylized indie or AA titles).
  • Proficiency with Unreal Engine 5 (Blueprints, Level Blockouts, iteration workflows).
  • Deep understanding of player flow, spatial design, and readability for action or multiplayer titles.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and iteration pipelines.
  • Strong communication and cross-discipline collaboration skills.
  • A portfolio or reel showing interactive environments or combat gameplay spaces.

Bonus Points

  • Experience designing for multiplayer combat or traversal-focused games.
  • Strong visual sense for stylized, cinematic gameplay.
  • Comfort wearing multiple design hats within a small, experimental team.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

You’ll have the creative freedom of an indie and the collaboration of a small, passionate team building something special. This is an opportunity to help define the feel of the game- how players move, explore, and interact with the world, while learning directly from experienced devs who value experimentation and teamwork.

Logistics & Compensation

  • Role: Full-Time Contract
  • Duration: Initial 3 month contract, with a strong possibility for extension.
  • Location: Remote within the US or Canada, provided you're open to core hours primarily on pacific time zone.
  • Compensation: We offer a flexible and competitive compensation structure based on the candidate's experience and skill level. To ensure we respect your time, we ask that you please state your expected compensation rate in the application form.

How to Apply

Please submit an expression of interest via the application form.

We’re most interested in the piece you’re proudest of- your standout work will be the key focus of our review. Just be sure it’s easy for us to access and view!
