Dreaming of joining a brand new video game company? Look no further! The Production Director and Lead Writer of Helldivers 2 have founded an indie studio!

Our focus is on narrative games with excellent gameplay. Storytelling, comedy, poignance, comedy a second time—together we will make the world laugh, cry, and rethink their lives, all while enjoying the heck out of a truly fun game. If this sounds like the sort of adventure you’d like to be a part of, read on!

The Game:

Our first title is a narrative-driven Strategy RPG. Think: if Fire Emblem were published by Annapurna instead of Nintendo. Much like Helldivers 2, the game will aim to tackle deep issues while still delivering laughs.

The game is currently exiting pre-production and has a slated launch date of Q1 2025, so not too far away!

You:

A 2D Artist! (seniority is flexible depending on the person)

You’ll be tackling a broad span of responsibilities and creative endeavors, though the bulk of your work will be 2D asset creation. As a startup, we’re looking for someone who’s excited to build and grow the studio. You’ll have a high level of input, so the ideal candidate should be excited to bring their ideas to the table and help shape the game and the studio from the ground up.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Principle 2D Artist to create 2D game assets
  • Take part in artistic exploration, discussions, and decision making
  • Work with the Marketing Director to develop marketing assets and composites
  • Bring your unique vision and experience to the studio, helping craft our creative vision, production pipelines, and studio culture

Need to Have:

  • Experience in game development or 2D asset creation in a similar creative industry
  • A keen understanding of the balance between quality and speed
  • Skill in providing accurate estimates for content creation
  • Ability to work within a set style to create a cohesive artistic vision
  • A strong desire to build a studio from the ground up and see a project to completion
  • Mastery of the English language
  • A love of making games! A collaborative mindset! Kindness, empathy, and all the other things that generally make for coworkers you end up loving to spend time with.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with 2D animation
  • Experience with VFX
  • Previously shipped titles
  • A love of secondary-world fantasies
  • A love of Strategy RPGS

Compensation:

  • Compensation depends on seniority/level of applicant
  • Profit share in game, salary, or a combination of both
  • Full or part time, number of weekly hours negotiable
  • We want you to want to work here, so we’ll strive to create a structure that gets you excited about the project

Work/Life Balance:

One of the main reasons we started our own studio was to build a world-class working environment. With over a decade of experience in the gaming industry, we’ve seen (and personally dealt with) our fair share of burnout. That’s why our company places such a high value on work/life balance, sustainable production, and flexibility. Games are fun, and making them should be too.

If Interested:

Please fill out the application form and we’ll get back to you if we feel there could be a good match!
