Optillusion Games are looking for a full-time Art Director to join our team on-site in Laguna Hills, CA.

Qualifications: 

• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and the ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
• Experience providing strategic leadership for gameplay animation in an indie game project, preferably shipped titles. 
• Able to guide an entire team, ensuring the quality/vision are consistent and the appropriate style over the course of a project.
• Extremely strong Artistic and interpersonal problem-solving skills. Have a solid understanding of art principles and good eyes in art, especially stylized illustrations.
• Deep understanding and ability to work inside of Unity game engine, and ability to evaluate and solve workflow inefficiencies.

Responsibilities:

• Set the Art direction of the upcoming projects. Produce artworks, concepts, and illustrations (in both 2D and 3D) to help communicate the art direction with the team. Support other artists in the team to realize the proposed art direction.
• Act as a direct supervisor for the Art team and set standards for the Art team members. Help recruit new candidates for the art team as the need arises. 
• Document visual design guidelines to ensure consistency across production. 
• Work with production and leadership to manage project scope, including managing the balance between optimization and visual quality.

Nice to have:

• Good illustration/painting skills
• Be familiar with game art assets, especially stylized 3D game assets workflow. 
• 5+ years of work experience.
