Overview
- 6-month part-time (PAYE) - Fully remote
- Rate: £20–£23 per hour
- UK resident preferred due to funding restrictions, but this is not a requirement
- Flexible hours (can be adjusted to fit around class schedules for current students)
- Paid learning time every month and technical mentorship
About Us
Pixel Box is a newly established, growing indie game studio working on both original games and client interactive projects. We’re looking for a junior Unreal Engine generalist who’s able to contribute across disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Prototype gameplay systems and features for internal projects
- Contribute to external client games and interactive experiences
Requirements
- At least one year of experience working in Unreal (this can be professional, student, or hobbyist experience)
- Foundational programming knowledge and the ability to build prototypes in Blueprints
- Understanding of basic art fundamentals and 3D art workflows
- Experience with two (not all) of the following areas: C++ in Unreal, Control Rig & Animation Blueprints, Material Graphs & HLSL, Niagara & Scratchpad, 3D modelling in Blender, Geometry Nodes, Houdini for Game Asset Creation, Unreal Insights, UMG & Slate
Nice to Have
- Experience with any other programming languages or game engines
- Experience in additional 3D art or technical art tools

The stuido was founded by a former senior developer on projects such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Palia, Netflix’s Avatar the Last Airbender, Antman: Quantumania, and Splash Damage’s Project Astrid.
