Skymap Games is hiring a Lead Engineer to help deliver the highest quality titles across multiple platforms. You will lead the game engineering team and provide direction to the development group. In this key leadership role, you will work closely with other product leaders and technical partners as the technical subject matter expert for the team. The Lead Engineer is responsible for both code quality and our projects’ technical process.

Responsibilities

• Establish technical architecture and process decisions for projects.
• Identify technical requirements and tools to deliver on the game vision.
• Collaborate with production to ensure budget and timeline requirements are met.
• Improve team efficiency through identifying bottlenecks and proposing solutions.
• Identify and manage technical dependencies and risks.
• Review code, enforce coding guidelines, and ensure software is clean and secure.
• Lead and mentor members of the development team.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality game software using C++.
• Collaborate closely with art and design to integrate gameplay features.

Qualifications 

• 7 years of game industry development experience with at least 1 title shipped as the lead
• Previous experience with 2D platforming gameplay code
• Excellent communication and effective time management skills
• Proactive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated
• Experience shipping across multiple platforms (PC, Console)
• A passion for video games
• Unreal Engine Experience
• Based in Quebec

Pluses

• Experience on a Metroidvania title.
• Experience with pixel animation
• Unreal Engine 5 Experience
• Mobile development experience
