Skymap Games is hiring a Senior Unreal Engineer to join our engineering department. Senior Engineers work collaboratively across teams to deliver high-quality projects to industry partners and help develop Skymap’s original titles. This role is ideal for experienced developers who are looking to lead technical efforts, mentor team members, and contribute meaningfully to games features and systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production-level code that is robust, maintainable, and meets the high standards of Skymap’s Engineering Department
• Take ownership of complex systems and guide their design, architecture, and implementation
• Collaborate across disciplines to solve technical and creative problems
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers
• Estimate and scope engineering work based on product and design requirements
• Proactively identify potential risks or roadblocks and propose effective solutions
• Represent the engineering department in cross-functional discussions and planning sessions

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional game industry programming experience
• Strong experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5
• Proficiency in C/C++, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming principles
• Experience building online multiplayer features
• Excellent debugging and optimization skills
• Comfortable making and communicating architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proven ability to take initiative, manage responsibilities independently, and follow through on commitments
• A commitment to a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment
• Strong communication, collaboration, and mentorship skills

Pluses

• Familiarity with Unreal environment tools (actors, meshes, blueprints, etc.)
• Experience with Unreal UMG
• Experience with GAS / Gameplay Effects
• Background in working with distributed, fully remote teams
• Prior leadership or mentorship experience
