Project

Fields of Aaru is a cozy life sim set in the mystical afterlife of Ancient Egypt. Farm along the Nile, meet the locals, complete quests to regain forgotten skills, and decorate your eternal home. Explore the sands beyond, discovering oases, tombs, and pyramids. Personalize the village and make the land your own by digging canals and shaping new patches of earth, from sandy beaches to grassy meadows. Rebuild obelisks and make offerings to the gods to unlock magical powers.

Drawing inspiration from titles like Dinkum, Stardew Valley, and Spiritfarer, we're creating a unique adventure that blends cozy base-building with the mystique and wonder of Ancient Egyptian mythology.

Overview

We're seeking a Game Trailer Editor to create a 60-second announcement trailer for our Steam page launch and official game reveal. This will be the first public introduction to Fields of Aaru and should clearly communicate the game’s core experience, tone, and visual identity.

Timeline

Final delivery needed by November 7, 2025

Responsibilities

• Deliver a polished, engaging trailer that clearly communicates the game's core experience  
• Review all provided gameplay footage to identify strong, readable moments  
• Select the best shots and flag any that need to be re-captured for improved clarity, composition, or timing  
• Capture additional footage yourself or work with us to direct new capture as needed  
• Collaborate with our sound designer and composer, who will provide custom music and sound effects  
• Maintain clear communication throughout to align on pacing, storytelling, and structure

Deliverables

• Initial concept/script based on our creative direction and available footage
• First draft for feedback (with revision rounds as agreed upon)
• Final 60-second trailer in required formats for Steam and social media
• Raw project files for future use

Qualifications

• Proven experience editing game trailers (portfolio required)
• Understanding of pacing, storytelling, and what makes effective announcement trailers
• Experience with indie games or cozy/life sim genres is a plus
• Ability to work with provided gameplay footage and integrate it creatively
• Clear communication and ability to incorporate feedback
