About Us

Founded by two experienced software developers with over 12 years of combined industry experience at companies like Google and Amazon, we're currently developing our debut title, Aaru: Fields of Eternity.

 

Project

Aaru: Fields of Eternity is a relaxing single-player survival and crafting game set in Ancient Egypt. Farm the fertile Nile, restore ancient obelisks, explore vast deserts, mine precious metals, and trade with the locals as you regain your lost memories and uncover the mysteries of the afterlife.

Drawing inspiration from titles like Dinkum, Valheim, and Stardew Valley, we're creating a unique adventure in the Egyptian afterlife. Our procedurally generated world combines cozy base-building mechanics with the mystique and wonder of Ancient Egyptian mythology.

Our game features a distinctive art direction that reimagines pyramids, obelisks, and Egyptian mythology through a stylized aesthetic. Artists joining our team will help define the visual style of the game's environments, from the eternal Nile Valley to underground tombs and crystal-filled caves. You'll work closely with us to create memorable characters, architecture, and items that bring this world to life.

 

Overview

We’re at the start of production for Aaru: Fields of Eternity and are looking for an artist to join us from production through release. As the lead artist, this is an opportunity to shape the game’s visual identity and contribute to every stage of development, from defining the core art direction to creating environments, characters, and more.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in 3D art creation for games, with a strong portfolio demonstrating stylized asset creation.
  • Expert knowledge of industry-standard 3D modeling software (e.g. Blender, Maya) and texturing tools (e.g. Substance Painter, Photoshop).
  • Proven experience with PBR workflows, normal map creation, and texture optimization techniques.
  • Strong understanding of modeling best practices for game-ready assets.
  • Experience with modular asset creation and texture atlas/trim sheet optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within technical constraints while maintaining high artistic quality.
  • Proficiency in creating and optimizing game-ready foliage and environmental assets.
  • Experience with real-time rendering engines (e.g. Unity, Unreal) and GLTF asset workflows.
  • Strong eye for color theory and ability to develop cohesive visual styles.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to express ideas through basic sketches or drawings.

 

Deliverables

  • Define and maintain the game's visual style guide, ensuring consistency across all assets.
  • Create high-quality 3D models, textures, and materials for environments, props, and characters.
  • Design and implement modular asset systems for efficient environment creation.
  • Use trim sheets and texture atlases to optimize assets for performance while maintaining visual quality.
  • Solve technical art challenges and implement creative solutions.
  • Ensure assets look great and are optimized for Bevy, a data-driven game engine built in Rust, and assist with their integration throughout development.

Both come from software engineering backgrounds at Google and Amazon and started the studio to create original games that combine strong technical foundations with rich atmosphere, worldbuilding, and player creativity.

Fields of Aaru drops you into the ancient Egyptian afterlife, where you live out a second life along the Nile. Build a home on the river, help the village by fixing things that have fallen into disrepair, and spend your days farming, fishing, and working the riverbanks where wildlife gathers. When you're ready, journey into the desert to uncover ancient ruins, tombs, and hidden secrets.
