We're looking for a Systems Designer who can think in formulas and progression curves. If you love designing exponential growth systems, enjoy building complex models, and want to help shape the balance of strategic idle games, this role is for you.

We're developing idle games with deep progression systems. Our first title in the genre, Desktop Defender, is a tower defense idler that runs in the corner of your screen. Players upgrade a single tower, create their optimal build with loot, and ascend for permanent bonuses across 300+ hours of gameplay. The game launched in November 2025 and has maintained 95% positive reviews on Steam with players praising its satisfying progression and deep strategy.

We've now greenlit 2 more projects in this genre with publisher support, and wish to expand the team. That's what this role is for!

 

What You'll Do

  • Design and balance core progression systems, economy curves, and reward structures for idle games.
  • Build simulation models and spreadsheets to stress-test game balance across hours, days, and weeks of player time.
  • Create detailed documentation mapping prestige layers, upgrade paths, and resource generation rates.
  • Work directly with the rest of the small team (2 - 4 people) to implement systems in-engine and iterate based on playtesting.

 

What We're Looking For

  • Strong mathematical intuition with exponentials, logarithms, polynomial functions, and compound growth.
  • Experience designing or deeply analyzing idle, incremental, or progression-heavy games.
  • Ability to build complex models and simulation tools that predict long-term game balance.
  • Understanding of player psychology in long-form engagement loops.
  • Self-driven and organized, comfortable working remotely with low oversight.
  • Clear communicator who can translate complex math into implementable game systems.
  • Bonus: Experience with Unity or familiarity with game implementation pipelines.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with programming systems with C# in Unity.
