Hairy Heart is a small independent game studio based in Glasgow. We are beginning work on a new short-form narrative game about a giant who is lonely and looking for love. The game will use cutting edge photogrammetry and motion capture along with hand-made puppets and models to create a unique fairly-tale world.

We mostly work with freelancers but are now trying to grow the studio by bringing on more permanent staff to help us complete bigger projects. We also do work-for-hire across a lot of areas including VR, console games, interactive films, museum guides and more. We only work with clients and projects which align with our core principles of fairness, kindness and sustainability.

Job Description

We are looking for a friendly person who can make games in Unity. You should be comfortable with some of the following activities:

• Coding in C#
• Importing 3D models and animations
• Laying out UI screens
• Setting up control schemes
• Implementing sound effects
• Creating exciting particle systems
• Using source control (probably git)
• Making builds for different platforms
• Testing and improving performance

It would also be super cool if you:

• Know about Unreal
• Have made something in VR
• Are interested in folk tales
• Think puppets are neat
• Know what a build system is
• Understand photogrammetry or have done some of it
• Want to write project proposals
• Have lots of wild game ideas

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in computer science, game development, or similar. Or equivalent experience demonstrated with a portfolio.

Additional Information

This is is a 6-month contract with intention to extend to a permanent position. Pay will be based on a full-time salary of £22,000-£26,000 (depending on experience). We are happy to consider part-time applicants, a full-time position will be 35 hours a week. We offer 28 days holiday per year including bank holidays, 5% matched pension contributions and profit-based bonuses.

We don’t yet have permanent offices so you will be working from home or a co-working space. Our upcoming project will require being in Glasgow frequently so you must be in reasonable commuting distance. You must have the right to work in the UK.
