We’re looking for a “Software Engineer - Build” to join our engineering team. As a Build Engineer at Hidden Leaf Games, you will own and improve the tech and processes that deliver FANGs into our players’ hands. You'll use your knowledge of CI/CD, git, automation, and game development to best empower Game Engineers and Designers to release changes safely and quickly. You will report into our “core systems team”, but will collaborate with Producers, Game Designers, and artists across the company, including senior leadership. This is a great opportunity for a software engineer without unreal experience to get their foot into gaming.



  • Fully own our CI/CD release process and tools for FANGS that starts from a commit and ends with deploying all assets to our publishers (Steam, Epic).
  • Work with Game Designers, Artists, Producers, Marketing to ensure they have the tools and automation they need to publish new versions of FANGs to customers.
  • Collect and Track deployment metrics such as defects and time-to-prod and work to improve.
  • Work with release managers to upload or roll-back broken changes on publisher platforms.
  • Provide guidance and training to others on how to follow continuous delivery best practices.


Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience deploying code to live production services.
  • 2+ years of software development experience, including scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Ruby.
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, CodePipeline, Gitlab, etc.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD best practices and tradeoffs, including git branching strategies, automated testing, deployment strategies.
  • Clear english language communication skills both spoken and written.
  • Ability to gather requirements from stakeholders such as game designers and producers to understand their release requirements.
  • Willingness to learn, be curious and provide timely feedback to teammates


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience administering source tools such as P4/Github.
  • Experience administering package repositoriessuch as Artefactory/Nexus.
  • Previous experience working with Unreal Engine 4xx.
  • Previously worked on a live service game or shipped AAA titles.
  • Experience with the Epic and Steam developer platform for publishing games.
