Qudical is a small remote indie studio creating a horror game. We are looking for an experienced and capable part-time (~16 hours per week) programmer/developer to help us develop our game, COMING HOME.
General Information
- This position is fully remote. While the company is based in the Netherlands, all of us are located at different places in the world. However, our technical director resides in the Netherlands, so proximity to the CEST time zone is preferred. (± 4 hours)
- This is a paid freelance job. The contract will initially last for 6 months. An extension is possible depending on the state of development.
- We already have an existing codebase, developed by our technical director. We are looking for a developer to join in and take over some of the work!
Responsibilities
- Work independently on implementing various aspects of the game - Anything from enemy AI to visual effects.
- Develop/extend tooling used to design the game and analyze playtester experiences.
- Collaborate with artists to bring their work into the game.
- Write clean, documented, and performant code in GDScript.
- Help debug and optimize game systems.
- Collaborate closely with the game’s directors and iterate on gameplay based on feedback and playtester experience.
Requirements
- Proven experience with the Godot Engine and GDScript.
- Ideally also experience with Blender and the Godot Shading Language.
- A strong portfolio showcasing high-quality games.
- A strong grasp of general software engineering practices and architecture.
- Experience with Git (LFS) or other version control systems.
- Strong (English) communication skills.
- Ability to communicate regularly with the rest of the team.
- Familiarity with slasher horror and horror games is a major plus!
