We’re building our new indie game studio - and we’re looking for a Game Programmer to join our team! Since you’re starting out as the only programmer, you would be in charge of developing all our in-house technology. Together with the Designer, Artist and Producer, you define and develop the pipelines and directly implement gameplay ideas into the project. We expect you to love prototyping new ideas, but also being able to write structured and commented code. Our ideal candidate has experience with many different aspects of game development, ranging from the three Cs (character, controls, camera), to gameplay systems, physics and UI.

Although we are planning for more projects of all sizes, Telescope Games is currently working on the prototype for one big project: THE LAST WHALE SINGER is a rhythm-action game with cinematic story sequences for PC and next-gen consoles. Players assume the role of a majestic humpback whale with magical singing abilities who has to dive and chant his way through breathtaking oceanic landscapes to save the world from the ominous Leviathan with the powers of his song. And the player’s movements conduct the music!

Any applicant must be eligible and able to move to and work in Germany for the job!

Your Experience

• 1 - 3+ years experience as a Programmer, preferably in games
• Extensive knowledge of game logic and programming practices

Bonus Points

• Experience with Unreal Engine and/or C++
• Shipped at least one commercial game
• Experience as Gameplay Programmer
• Experience as Systems Programmer

Your Tasks

• Build & take ownership for the code architecture of our projects
• Prototype and develop new gameplay features and systems in Unreal Engine
• Contribute technical and creative input towards design, art and sound departments
• Document systems and workflows
• Bug tracking & performance optimization where needed
