The Game Band is looking for a Principal Concept Artist to help define the look and feel of our games.

As a Principal Concept Artist, You Will
- Develop the visual identity for key characters, environments, props, and other parts of the game world.
- Generate high-impact concept art that inspires the team and informs production across disciplines.
- Collaborate closely with the Art Director to explore and refine the visual identity of the project.
- Partner with design, narrative, and production to ensure concepts support gameplay and story goals.
- Contribute to worldbuilding by visualizing iconic locations, cultures, and aesthetics.
- Help define workflows and pipelines for concept development, including documentation and reference building.
- Provide feedback and mentorship to other artists.
Requirements
- Experience as a senior or lead concept artist on at least one shipped game or animated project.
- A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional visual storytelling, and design sensibilities.
- Ability to generate a wide range of ideas quickly, from rough thumbnails to polished presentations.
- Comfort with both character and environment design.
- Strong understanding of composition, lighting, mood, and color.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Nice to Haves
- Experience helping establish the visual style for a new IP.
- A love of stylized, imaginative, or genre-bending art direction.
- Familiarity with 3D tools for paintovers or block-ins (e.g., Maya, ZBrush).
- Experience working with remote or distributed teams.

Blaseball is an absurdist, player-driven, corruptible, online game of baseball. It’s a simplistic simulation of a sport, built in the void of real sports, where players can view, bet on, and contort the league.
