Thrive is designing and building a bleeding-edge framework that provides a forward-thinking path for developers creating and sharing VR software. This framework’s intended use is in the Unity game engine. VR developers and users interact with our framework through both the Unity editor as well as our online VR software client.
The breadth of knowledge we are expecting from our Unity devs would cover that of a typical Unity game/app developer that in addition to this has a deeper understanding of software architecture and core .NET and networking fundamentals. You will be expected to use this knowledge in unique and innovate ways to design and develop new features and create solutions to challenging problems.
Much of the software we are developing requires a tight-knit mesh between front-end and back-end software. Having knowledge and experience interfacing with backend services is a huge plus to us. Team-work and collaboration will play a large role in your participation at Thrive, so good communication skills are essential.
Our ideal candidate would possess at least some levels of familiarity with things such as C#, C++, C, .NET, Python, etc…
This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor designing and building software that will literally shape the future of VR.
*A bachelor’s degree in computer science or experience in a related field is preferred, but not required if you can demonstrate relevant experience.
Working at Thrive!
At Thrive you’ll work remotely as part of a team that is designing and developing our VR application and game development framework. Your specific duties may include iterating on design, writing code, debugging, and creating documentation. You’ll be involved in all stages of the development life-cycle, from initial concept to final implementation and support.
Regardless of your position, at Thrive you’ll have the opportunity to work on challenging and innovative projects that require unconventional solutions and structured, scalable implementations. To succeed in this role, you should have a strong understanding of data flow, networking concepts, and performance considerations, and be able to conceptualize systems and their impact on the user experience. As with any start-up, you may also be asked to fill different roles depending on your skills and expertise.

This is a remote work position, with a preferred commitment of 20-40 hours per week. However, we may be able to accommodate exceptions in certain circumstances, such as internship arrangements. As with any remote-work position you’ll be expected to effectively “self-manage” to varying degrees, using tools like discord, zoom, Miro, and Trello to stay connected with the team and collaborate on projects.
While this arrangement will be initially established on a contract basis, we would like to find people that will share in our passion for our project and become a long-term part of the Thrive team.
