We are seeking a technical manager to help our engineers thrive in our quickly evolving engineering culture. In partnership with the technical director, you will directly level-up the company by leading the engineering team to excellence through effectiveness in coaching, motivation, and support.

You will also strive to ensure company’s production success by boosting effective coordination, communication, and operation of engineers and the rest of the production team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a high performing team of 8+ engineers by building relationships and shepherding their career goals and aspirations
  • Maintain engineering team health and morale by managing work/life balance and addressing conflicts head on
  • Establish mature performance evaluation metrics with clear objectives and actionable feedback
  • Advise the leadership team on company growth with a long-term engineering staffing strategy
  • Coordinate engineering resources along with production leads to meet production targets on time
  • Forecast and advise on potential technical risks to the company's content production schedule
  • Strategize on processes to improve the company's operational efficiency in technical areas such as DevOps, Release Management, and Business Intelligence
  • Create visibility by bolstering communication and alignment amongst engineers and key stakeholders

 

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as an engineer or software developer, with at least 4+ years in a lead or management role
  • Participated in the full production cycle of at least one shipping game title
  • Well-practiced in employee performance review and dealing with difficult conversations directly
  • Experience guiding teams through phases of significant company growth or change 
  • Outstanding communications skills (verbal and written) and organizational skills
  • Efficient at bridging communication gaps between engineering and other production disciplines
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at managing, mentoring, and coaching technical developers
  • Versed in various project management methodologies and practices
  • Online availability during our core hours of 10am to 3pm PST

 

Within the U.S., the standard minimum base pay for this role is $140,000 Annual. Actual salary will vary depending on experience, performance, and location. In addition to competitive salary, employees in this role will also earn equity. Stock options are a large part of our compensation philosophy of investing in Treehouse's future together and sharing in success.
