Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft and tune game systems using Unity Engine, in collaboration with our artists and programmers.
  • Drive the creative process for AI behaviors, enemy and level design, game mechanics, and accessibility.
  • Lead playtesting sessions to gather and analyze feedback, fine-tuning the gameplay experience.
  • Champion the game's vision, combining engaging gameplay with a rich narrative.

Qualifications:

  • Collaboration Skills: Excellent teamwork and communication abilities, with experience working closely with artists, programmers, and other stakeholders in a game development environment.
  • Professional Experience: Proven track record as a Game Designer, with significant experience in designing and implementing game mechanics, AI behaviors, level design, and player-centric features. Prior experience with bullet-hell or top-down action games is a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in using Unity Engine for game development. Familiarity with scripting, animation, and physics within Unity.
  • Creative Vision: Ability to conceptualize and articulate a compelling game vision, integrating engaging gameplay with a rich narrative.
  • Education: A degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred but not required. Relevant experience and a strong portfolio can compensate for the lack of formal education.

  • Be part of a pioneering project set for a Q1 2025 release, with a demo soon to be unveiled.
  • Work within a supportive team environment, benefiting from McGill Engine's initial funding.
