We Really Need a Game Designer!
We do some awesome things at Really Interactive, from making virtual music instruments in our app Virtuoso to creating stuff you can find in Angry Birds, at Childish Gambino concerts and in a decommissioned nuclear reactor. And the best thing? All of our employees own and run the company together from a cozy attic in Stockholm, where everyone gets a vote and shares in the success.
But now, we need your help!
While we’re great at making polished experiences, we could use a hand with maximizing fun and replayability without overscoping and feature creeping. Our next project is a VR game based on scientific research about terraforming, in space, with aliens. Wow! It’s already been fully funded, so this is a unique chance where you can work with our team of artists and programmers to create an amazing game from the ground up.
Meanwhile, you’d become part of an independent company where we really value equality and work-life balance.
Here are the main things we would want you to work with:
This job is hybrid remote / on-site in Stockholm. We work four days a week and consider this full-time, but the job can be started at 50% or 75% of that if you have ongoing engagements. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds as long as you can show us some fun game systems and mechanics that you’ve created.
How to Apply:
Are you or someone you know interested? Send us an introduction email! In the email, share two different designs you’ve created for games that you are particularly happy with, tell us why you chose them, and explain how they were implemented. If you choose to include a portfolio in addition to the assignment, make sure it contains a brief description of your role and contributions to each project.
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
The preliminary deadline for applications is 2024-02-25, but might get extended. The start date for this position is flexible.
At Really we make the mundane come alive with magic. We create games and interactive entertainment, real-time applications, and virtual/augmented reality. As games industry professionals we have worked with top names in digital arts and entertainment, and are capable of raising the bar in any project where interaction and presentation need to shine.
Few projects carry expectations quite like the sequel to one of the most downloaded games of all time. Rovio knew it had to deliver something truly great, and that included a solid user experience and top notch audio. We were tasked with providing user interface programming and audio direction.
Angry Birds 2 also had to be downloadable by everyone. With 700 sound effects and 15 minutes of music in only 10 megabytes, the audio work done by Really Interactive was the subject of a talk on audio optimization at the Game Developers Conference in 2016.
Grab an instrument and get ready to play in Virtuoso, your own virtual music stage, OUT NOW on Meta Quest, Rift and SteamVR. This VR musical sandbox lets anyone play and perform music in new, immersive ways. Create music in real-time using the Looper and easily share it for all to hear!
The six instruments of Virtuoso have been created specifically for VR. Set up your own custom drum kit with the Empads and tickle the keys of the three-dimensional Oorgan. You can also add vocals with lush reverb using the virtual microphone! Everyone, from professional producers to casual music lovers, can become Virtuosos!
In our own Virtual Reality adventure you are a scientist solving holographic puzzles while travelling to incredible locations. The game is developed with a focus on complete immersion and to be a high quality audiovisual journey that can only be experienced in VR.
