Working with the Charity Director, the Communications & Events Manager will be responsible for the development and delivery of Safe In Our World’s communications strategy and will lead on both digital and in-person events management.
They will cultivate new relationships with relevant supporters, influencers, etc. to promote community fundraising: for example, through SIOW’s tentpole fundraisers, Play Your Way and Press Pause. They will take responsibility for strengthening community engagement with the Charity’s work.
They will be responsible for leading Safe In Our World’s events programme – developing and promoting a range of events to maximise income, drive supporter engagement, and raise the charity’s profile.
This role will require travel to national and international events, but we are keen to support all applicants and are happy to discuss accommodations regarding travel.
Responsibilities
Communications
- Deliver a robust communications plan that will increase awareness and engagement of SIOW and its campaigns amongst key audiences: this will include social media content, events advertising, and affiliate and stakeholder communications.
- Develop a strong and recognisable brand, bringing consistency to our communications.
- Create and publish engaging content across all communications platforms including articles, infographics, videos, and social media content. This will include liaising with the Partnerships & Training Manager and Business Development & Marketing Manager.
- Develop a digital content calendar, reflecting activity across the Charity’s website and social media channels.
- Work with the Business Development & Marketing Manager on accompanying digital content in support of fundraising campaigns and coverage.
- React and interact online by responding to posts and commenting, to drive engagement and followers.
- Follow and engage with appropriate social media feeds, groups and influencers to promote SIOW.
- Working closely with the Clinical Advisory Board, ensure that a clinical voice is effectively embedded across all of the Charity’s activity.
Fundraising
- Identify new income stream opportunities and develop fundraising into new areas of engagement (e.g., esports).
- Seek new opportunities to fundraise and engage with supporters through contacts from the Partnerships & Training Manager, and Ambassador and Patron networks.
- Lead on the Charity’s key fundraising events, e.g. Play Your Way and Press Pause.
- Develop relationships with, and work alongside, other charities.
- Build and nurture relationships with previous fundraisers to enhance future opportunities.
- Monitor and produce monthly reports on fundraising efforts.
Events
- Effectively initiate, facilitate, and evaluate a portfolio of fundraising events to achieve agreed income targets within budgets.
- Develop sustainable annual events which support both individual and corporate giving.
- Manage all aspects of the planning and organisation of events, including the recruitment and management of volunteers, securing of venues, partners, etc., as required.
- Work to deadlines and targets within an agreed budget.
- Manage event income and expenditure budgets; ensure all income is received and acknowledged in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate results in line with the Charity’s strategy.
- Support recommendations for the future development of campaigns, in line with the Charity’s objectives.
- Ensure that appropriate post-campaign reviews are completed in a timely manner so that learnings can inform future planning.
- Report on performance and against past performance.
Other Responsibilities
- Develop relationships with Safe In Our World Ambassadors and Patrons and encourage engagement from these groups with Charity initiatives.
- Support the Charity Director and the rest of the team as needed.
- Engage directly with the games industry - studios, creators, and more.
About You
We’re looking for a team player who is willing to learn and grow alongside the Charity and the rest of the team.
Essential
- You will be able to work unsupervised, to deadlines, and manage your personal workload (this includes asking for help, if needed!)
- You will have experience in working to budgets and targets.
- You will have strong communication skills – written and oral – which you will use when corresponding via email, social media, and other platforms, as well as when providing feedback, producing reports, and summarising information.
- You will be able to form strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- You will have a good understanding of digital fundraising platforms such as Tiltify or JustGiving.
- You will have a good understanding of the games industry or games streaming communities.
- You will be willing to travel to national and international events, and work some unsociable hours (for example, attending events in the evening). We are happy to discuss accommodations for travel and working hours, as needed.
Desirable
- An understanding of mental health and mental illness, through either direct or indirect experience.
- Knowledge of data protection (GDPR) and fundraising regulations.
- Flexibility to take on other responsibilities and work collaboratively within a small team.
Additional Details
- Location: Remote – anywhere in the UK
- Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, 9:30am-6:00pm Mon-Fri (can be flexible)
- Salary Range: £30,000 - £33,000 depending on experience
