Steel Anvil Studios are seeking a Lead Games Engineer with strong all round skills to develop a single player Dice/RPG roguelike (PC/Steamdeck/Mac). This is an exciting opportunity to work in a micro-team (2-4 people) on a project from inception through to completion.
Engineer With Design Interests
You’ll be an experienced developer who is looking to work on an independent project where you can have input into all aspects of a title. Although not a game designer role, you will have a strong interest in game design and roguelikes and will provide constant feedback and ideas.
Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for a new code base in the Godot engine using GDScript, creating high quality, easy to understand, and bug free code suitable for potential future porting to multiple platforms. Working closely with an experienced designer, you’ll be expected to provide input into game mechanics and visual aesthetics, including visual combo and scoring effects.
Prior Work
Your resume will include solo or micro-team developed and shipped games with a strong focus on user experience and a high level of polish.
Requirements and Ideal Experience
This is a fully remote contracting position with flexibility on working schedules.
Remuneration

👋 Nate from Work With Indies here. Just a quick FYI that while the project lead has a background in web3, he has confirmed that "adding web3 to this game is a terrible idea and would make it actively worse."
