Job description:
We are developing a prototype; a 2D programming puzzle game. Our current goal is to not to make a complete game but a viable proof-of-concept which we will pitch for further funding. We are looking for an experienced game artist to collaborate with our core team of educators and game designers to help us craft a vision and voice for the final product.
We are working on a tight timeline and need an experienced candidate with a strong and inventive artistic voice who has the skills to jump in and help with a short-term, quick turnaround contract.
Our ideal candidate would be able to make the following contributions:
- Concept art: We are looking for sample concept art that establishes a tone and provides clear artistic direction, communicating to potential publishers what the final game will be like and serving as a reference for future development. This may include splash art, promotional images, and pitch deck slides.
- User interface design: We need someone who can look at our current mechanics and interaction models and help us work through a number of treatments, brainstorming and sketching ideas for game elements with good affordances. Candidate should be attentive to U.I design principles, usability considerations, game feel, and “juiciness.”
- Game assets: Candidate may provide some graphical assets for the game prototype, including title screen and sprites. Must use Photoshop or have a good understanding of how to export game ready assets.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in providing game ready assets for Unity.
- Experience in designing and refining U.I. elements.
- Produce clear and well-organized work products
- Actively seek and respond constructively to feedback.
- Attentive to aesthetics and game feel.
- Result-oriented and interested in responding to playtest feedback to create the best games.
- Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks and work within deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
