UMA is an early-stage, London based, startup on a mission to create entertainment experiences that are intentional about what they teach kids. Today we are building a Multiplayer Thinky Sandbox game where kids develop mathematical reasoning and creative problem solving skills. Think of a Minecraft meets Factorio meets Scratch. We are not after the “traditional” educational game model, we are re-imagining the future of games and learning - Jonathan Blow said it better than we ever could. 

Today, we are in the early stages of pre-production and we’re looking for a talented game designer who can lead the design of core gameplay systems and mechanics, and play a key role in crafting the broader long term vision of our game.

What we are looking for 

• Experience working as a game designer in a leading role, from ideation through to shipping 
• Experience designing complex games with high replayability and retention, ideally sandbox games
• Ability to move away from the well trodden path and venture into innovative gameplay ideas 
• Curiosity for / interested in Mathematics 

Big plus

• Experience working on products that kids love
• Experience designing multiplayer games 
• Ability to design across platforms, including mobile
• Skilled at UX/UI design 
• Experience in education or pedagogy 
• Prototyping skills in Unity
