Hi! I’m Andrés, founder of Wimbo – a music-making app for people that suck at making music. Make beats, solve musical puzzles and level up to make even cooler beats.

Play Wimbo on iOS.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented UI/UX designer that can help us make Wimbo the easiest and most enjoyable app to make music. You’d basically be the entire design team, with the help of our product design consultant and myself.

What You'll Get To Do

  • Create wireframes for new features
  • Design icons, buttons, menus, basically everything the user sees within the app
  • Analyze our current UX flows and improve wherever possible

Skills We're Looking For

  • Create designs efficiently and creatively
  • Best practices for mobile games and apps
  • Illustrator, Figma, or any other relevant software
  • Proactivity and time management skills are essential
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail

Bonus Skills For Extra Points

  • If you know how to do animations, that would be a killer combo
  • Graphic Design degree
  • Have worked on published mobile games and/or apps
  • You play a musical instrument
  • You speak fluent Spanish

Flexibility and Communication

You will work from wherever you want with flexible hours. We have short (20min) daily meetings (via Discord) at the start of each day (9am CST) to discuss what we worked on yesterday, what we’re working on today and if we had any issues where hopefully we can help each other.

We will communicate mainly over Discord and use Notion for task management.

While I’m very flexible with hours and days off, I’ve found that it is way more efficient to work in similar hours (my main hours are 9am-7pm CST), since we can communicate and help each other out a lot quicker. I wouldn’t want someone who starts work whenever I’m already finished for the day.

Important Details

  • The start date is ASAP
  • This is a full-time contract (40 hours a week)

Our Working Style

We’re a tiny company with huge ambition, which means we’re juggling dozens of things at once and we're iterating constantly. We’re launching and updating every week or two, making as many experiments as possible and constantly talking to our users for feedback. We’re very flexible with hours, but we expect top speed and quality. You might sometimes work with very little instruction (or very broad guidelines), so you’ll have to fill in the blanks yourself or ask a lot of questions. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea to work like this. Only apply if you’re up for it.

How To Apply

Send me an email with your CV or LinkedIn profile and your portfolio. If I think it might be a good fit, I’ll send you a Calendly link so we can meet and chat via Google Meet. Only the top 5 candidates will get a second interview with our design advisor and if all goes well, we’ll have another meeting to discuss the offer and clear up anything we haven’t covered.

I’ll be asking myself 2 main questions to decide:

1. Does this person possess the necessary skills to work and learn fast?

2. Do I see myself working with this person for the next few years?

Our mission is to allow anyone with a phone or tablet to learn and create music, with or without a musical instrument.
