We’re looking for a Unity Generalist / Gameplay Programmer who can do more than just write clean code. We want someone who can build gameplay, prototype ideas quickly, and turn creative concepts into polished, interactive experiences.
As a Unity generalist, you’ll touch many parts of the game: from implementing core mechanics and integrating assets to collaborating on UX, animation systems, or technical art workflows.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a flexible, remote-first studio, takes initiative, and enjoys making every part of the player experience come to life.
Responsibilities:
- Build and implement core gameplay features, mechanics, and systems using Unity and C#, from prototypes to polished production-ready content.
- Collaborate closely with designers, artists, and other developers to bring creative ideas to life and ensure cohesive, engaging gameplay.
- Integrate and configure assets such as animations, UI elements, sounds, and visual effects to deliver a smooth and responsive player experience.
- Use Unity’s built-in tools (e.g., Profiler, Animator, Timeline, UI) to optimize performance and debug runtime issues across platforms.
- Triage, write, and resolve bug tickets, helping maintain a high-quality, stable game build throughout development.
- Participate in design and technical discussions, offering insights and proposing solutions to improve gameplay systems and workflows.
- Follow clean coding practices and contribute to a maintainable, modular codebase using version control.
- Test, iterate on, and polish gameplay features based on internal feedback and user testing.
- Own features from start to finish, including prototyping, refinement, edge-case handling, and performance tuning.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of professional Unity experience, building and shipping games in a studio or production environment.
- Shipped at least one premium (non-hypercasual) game—ideally on PC or console—or a polished mobile title with meaningful gameplay.
- Proficient in developing complete gameplay systems, including player controls, interactivity, rule-based logic, and overall game flow. Able to translate design ideas into responsive, satisfying mechanics.
- Hands-on experience with generation systems such as procedural content, runtime spawning, or modular world-building.
- Strong knowledge of Unity’s core systems, including prefabs, animation controllers, lighting, physics, scenes, and basic UI.
- Able to take a feature from concept to completion, including prototyping, iterative development based on feedback, and final polish.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with Agile workflows and Kanban-style task management.
- Proficiency with Shader Graph or creating custom shaders in Unity.
- Familiarity with Unity’s Timeline and basic VFX or animation integration.
What We Offer:
- Fully remote work allowing you to work from anywhere and balance your personal life.
- Per-project bonuses to directly reward your contributions, recognising your impact on the game.
- Monthly game night where we buy you a new game and order takeout—enjoy playing with the team while still getting paid.
- Yearly team holiday, fully covered, where we get together for a fun, memorable trip as a team.
- Equipment budget to help you improve your home office setup with the tools, software, or hardware you need to do your best work.
- Professional development fund to support your growth, including access to conferences, workshops, or online learning platforms.
Additional Details:
- Location: Fully remote, with working hours aligned to Gulf Standard Time
- Job Type: Contract - Monday to Thursday, 30 hours per week

- Compensation: Based on experience, with potential equity options
