  • We agree with 99% of Earth's population that Earth is round.
  • We are a premium AA+ Indie that has all the elements to become a highly recognized IP. 
  • Orientation period: allow yourself 2-4 weeks to become familiar with the product and team.
  • We are looking for candidates that can start between now & August.
  • Always remote, ideally full-time but can start as part-time
  • Core team member with flexible time-management & freelance contract
  • Salary: Dependent on knowledge, skill, experience level and location.
  • Working with an interdisciplinary team from around the globe. Ranging from GMT-1 to GMT+2.

 

Your Role

As a Level Designer, you'll use your strong grasp of design fundamentals and experience to continue creating memorable levels that are intertwined with visual narrative and an outstanding atmosphere.

As we’re approaching the last stage of development, your work will mostly focus on technical tasks such as tweaking current areas in our levels in Unity: collisions, setting up scripts, checkpoints, cameras, gameplay, etc. However, as every designer on the team, you’ll have a voice in problem-solving and finding compromises between design, art, tech and the creative director's vision. 

That being said, as we focus on long term stability and team building, we expect you to show your creative side when we’ll start developing new areas, puzzles, levels in the upcoming DLC and future game(s). You’ll use your know-how, sensitivity, creativity, and strong interpersonal skills, to collaborate in a cross-functional team to create a very playable & memorable theatrical world of puppets.

 

Skills & Requirements

To thrive as a Game Designer at Flatter Than Earth you would have:

  • 3+ years of level design experience
  • 1+ years of development & design experience within the platforming & puzzle genres.
  • Experience in launching a game. A minimum of 1 shipped title as a level designer.
  • Strong understanding of theory behind player motivations and overall player psychology that can be altered though proper level design.
  • Affinity for the puzzle and platforming game audience, and an appreciation of its different player types, motivation and needs.
  • Good knowledge of Unity and its tools (Timeline, animation, physics, etc).
  • Very good English communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • Combat design knowledge/experience is a plus
