🌸 Role Introduction 🌸
We are building a shiny, new, ambitious cozy game and would love to find a visual effects artist with a track record of building highly-polished, original and “wow!” visuals.
If you are passionate about creating stylized, magical and immersive visual effects like those in our first title, Wylde Flowers, then we would love to work with you!
🌸 What you'll be doing 🌸
- Working with our Art Director and concept team to build paintovers and help visualise an overall cohesive plan for our visual effects.
- Designing and implementing all aspects of visual effects in the game, including ambient environmental effects such as dust motes, waterfall splashes and god rays, impact effects such as footsteps, build mode effects, and (most importantly!) a whole host of magical and fantasy elements.
- Working with the cinematics designer and animation team to integrate visual effects into key cutscenes.
- Creating reusable, parameterised effects that can be reused and customised as-needed for use in various situations.
- Making use of a broad range of VFX techniques, from animated UVs on custom-built meshes to Unity VFX Graph assets.
- Monitoring memory and GPU usage of effects, and devising ways to keep within budget across the range of target platforms while maintaining high visual fidelity.
🌸 Our dream VFX Artist 🌸
- Can draw on a wide range of experience for solving problems using a variety of standard techniques, and is excited to flex their creative muscles and come up with new, innovative solutions when required.
- Deep experience with Unity and VFX Graph, as well as DCC tools such as Maya, Substance and Photoshop.
- Has proven experience working in a stylized art style that is still grounded in reality.
- Believes in collaboration and loves working with a team to create the best possible visual effects by adapting to new ideas and feedback.
- Is able to work independently with people in significantly different time zones. Knowing when to reach out for help or advice but loves problem solving as well.
- Believes in kindness and support as a first step to any communication and practices both when giving feedback.
🌸 This is a full time, fixed-contract and permanently-remote-working position 🌸
- This position is 38 hours a week
- Work around your family and personal commitments.
- Work any hours of the day and week that make sense for you.
- We generally communicate over Slack or email, with occasional voice/video chat when convenient.
- You will need to have some reasonable time zone overlap with both Melbourne and the US at the same time. We have a strict policy to not hire in Europe or any time zone where only night work would be possible to achieve that.
- We'll be trusting you to be self-motivated and able to manage your own time and workload; we won't be micromanaging your task list.
🌸 Salary 🌸

- $120,000 AUD ($85,000 USD) per annum
